I wanted to share my progress on one of the male bodyshapes I'm working on (currently there are three), the Brawny Knight. For this shape I wanted some muscle but a bit of padding around the hips, tummy and thighs. Think older knight, not past his prime but he's slowing down a bit, he's received land from his monarch and he's enjoying his family ;) He can still go to battle when called but he's getting older. He's the counterpart to the Buxom Wench that I have 3/4 of the way finished.

Mucho gusta. :D

Oh- and any shape or age conversions for the perfect tunics = grovelling my thankfulness. The dang things really are a versatile shape IMHO and at least swapping shoes and feet is really easy.

I'll make sure I poke around the adult site. I wish Bloom did morphs, but ah well, that's what begging is for. It's a neat shape! I like it. I may like it better than the Runner or LBB, because of that shortened neck. (I always liked the shortened neck on Bloom's perpetually-naked Reubens lady, too, but... She's perpetually naked, so, yeah.)

I went looking-- the skins look very similar to the defaults I use, which is fun. In kind of a frustrating way. I swear, as soon as all the meshes I know I absolutely 100% need exist, I'ma bundle 'em all up, upload them, and post them as, like, Basic and Deluxe sets of Playable Medieval Bodyshape Conversion Starters, or something like that. Possibly with a Hat Is Weird bonus pack with the Plantsims and OFB and Bon Voyage ninjas in it.

... Sort of tangentially speaking of which, I have a question-- how hard are sleeve swaps? I have an idea but I keep going back and forth on whether I'm being a pain in the ass about all these mesh edits. (I swear, what's going to happen is I'll get all the textures I want done, get my business goal this year of being able to buy my own kiln, and then next year I'll finally cave and try to teach myself to mesh so I feel like less of a mooch for begging so much.)

That is a grumpy, hairy man indeed. *grins*

Yeah, I can see how that would be an issue on the Reubens shape. Pity. Although I think the theory is still good in terms of raising the shoulders-- or widening the body half of the neck, like on the Neanderthal, so you get a more sloped shoulder. ... That'd actually be more feminine than the Maxis shape.

... Dude, if it would actually be helpful, then probably as soon as Heget finishes a few more tunics I'll get it up there. Mesh + single recolor is probably the most polite way to do it, right? And what would be the thing to include for skins?

Basically, a long straight sleeve (instead of a skintight sleeve) on the Amaryll strapdress, sexyfeet and flats, child through adult. I want to use the mesh for female servants' livery (because it's got one alpha group and is thus easily defaulted for NPCs, and because it's got a nice blousing at the waist so it's easy to get an apron on there) and for some ladies gym clothes based on June from the Tres Riches Heures. I could do it with the skintight sleeves, and that is my current plan; I just think it'd look nicer with a dimensional sleeve, and the pretty cuffed sleeve you did is just too fine for things like... setting his lordship's table or mucking out the pig sty or doing three hours of jumping jacks. I don't have anything so useful as a particular long, straight sleeve in mind, either, because I'm pretty much just that useless.

It depend on the sleeves- they're not as easy as shoe swaps, but still.
And I think if we search through some of the modern seperates- especially sweaters, we could find a sleeve.

Yes, one of the reasons I have few bodyshapes is I hate to use only one or two meshes for all outfits, and if I have nude + two or 3 for everyday + an underwear/sleepwear + outerwear for medieval I'm more likely to nab.

Which tunics am I to be making for you waiting on? :P
(if I'm free tommorow I'm doing the Tunic length 03 and 04)

... what tunics. Um, I don't remember? *checks post* Aside from child conversions, the only things still on my list of 'oh man I want to recolor this' are some kind of long nightgown-y tunic and a sleeve-01 hem-01 tunic with some kind of shoe. Soled hosen I could paint a shoe onto, FR's poulaines, or Aligeth's Robin Hood shoe, doesn't matter too much to me but that's my order of preference. Because gambesons. Because I finally found an option for Medieval gym clothes, so gambesons.

I don't think I mind only using a few meshes-- I mean, like I told Cynnix, I just collected most, if not all, of the meshes in my game that I could use for different body shapes and the AM folder currently has the most, at sixteen. Friar Tuck, Robin Hood, Blockfoot nude, FR's tunic, FR's chausses, six things from your Perfect Tunics set, Liz's Rus tunic, Marja's edit of the Count D robe, the Sims 2 Store knight, Tig's alpha tunic, and Skell's Santa robe. And I'm honestly not sure I'll use all the Perfect Tunics that're in there.

Course, my game sticks to one period, so that helps a little.

LOL

I'm typing up my 'heget's heresies' world-building explanations (and I like that title) as I read this.

It'll be easy to add one of the shoes meshes to the nightshirt meshes (cynnix's new boots!)

It's making a long {mid-calf and ankle length} version of the tunics that I want to start on. Because that's the other missing major shape.

I know the skinny neck can't be changed where the head meets the body, but yeah, I think widening the neck or changing the slope of the shoulders might be the thing that makes a wider or stronger mesh look... more realistic. The really big bodybuilders with the skinny necks have always looked weird to me, and only partly because their shoulders are generally too wide for Maxis animations.

I actually went through my clothing folder and you'd be surprised how FEW meshes there are! I seem to have the most in AM right now, and I'm up to sixteen. In the Deluxe kit. Although I may throw in Castaway Stories stuff-- that's deluxe-ish, right? Nobody converts CS stuff to other bodyshapes. Hell, I don't even know if I'd use it and I love me some Castaway Stories outfits. But... yeah, for the sample skin... Admittedly I was thinking maybe include the default mesh spread I use (which is a pretty wide spread; Bloom sexy feet and Warlokk Xhi-res and Blooms BRPB and Aquilegia's improved fatmorph...), a custom skintone that's got all the painted-on bits, and whatever UV maps I have?

I would be thrilled if that happened, I really would. Painting sleeves on works fine, but I kind of like the un-tailored look of a loose sleeve for some things, and in particular for the Strapdress.

I do seem to remember mentioning a nice-looking bag sleeve from TSM. Do you remember where we were talking about that? It's probably in the vicinity of the screenshot. I'll google and see what I can find, because right now my brain is like oatmeal.

EDIT: Okay, I MAY have been thinking of Anna Maria's pretty German sleeve in the first post of that thread, but I could've sworn I remembered a manly bag sleeve. (Which Anna Maria's sleeve WOULD be, if it had a much shorter cuff and didn't have the roll at the top.) German sleeves are always so pretty, with the slashes and the puffs. Why do I default to French fashion again?

*googling for screenshots* *So very, very jealous of crowns*

Physician Herbs guy looks like he might have a nice bag sleeve. Shame about the short sleeve over the top. Really, for a bag sleeve, I think the poofy sleeve you've used on the strapdress would work nicely. Just swap the hand out for a man's and you've got a nice charming troubador look. (And Enblith's Italian Renaissance Man has good rich-guy sleeves.)

I'll keep my eyes peeled for updated Rengal meshes! I think lifted shoulders would really help her. (The calves on mine looked weird, at least on the true nude. The nude underwear had smoother calves. Thought that deserved a heads-up.)

I use a set of Louis skins modified by JWilson for the Xhires/Bloom Sexyfeet combo from over on InSim Adult as my default skins, but I kind of have, um, around 200 skintones in my game. Some of which I've tweaked so the nipples line up with Warlokk's meshes. And given bust lifts to a few elders so they line up with the EF nude I use. I've actually tried to STOP downloading skins-- I finally got all my genetic gaps filled in, which means I don't need any new ones. No matter how tempting Alfred's skins are. And they're very tempting.

The only drawback to the BRPB meshes is that they shrink the areolae down to little pinpoints.

I just got my game loaded, lemme fire up Boolprop and CAS and look at those sleeves. EDIT: I was definitely thinking of a looser sleeve. More like afbodymechanic or afbodymilitaryofficer, maybe even as loose as afbodylabcoat.

Yes, those! I like the shape of them, it's a little more like a bag sleeve than most full sleeves have been-- with more volume toward the back/bottom of the arm than the front. As far as separate tops that reliably cover bottoms without anything showing through, I hear there's some sort of witchery with making a second group that the textures go onto. I don't know how FR did it, whether she's a mapping ninja or whether she used a second group.

Good crowns are so needed, Cynnix! (I grabbed your wreaths.) Most of the ones out there are either tiaras or way too small. ... And while I don't know about oFB shelves (couldn't you put the crown on the pillow, mark the crown for sale, and then put the pillow on the shelf?) I do think a crown onna pillow would make a really good jewelry rack. There absolutely aren't enough custom jewelry racks out there. Shoot, I was thinking of seeing if I could take your other tabletop rack-of-wreaths and turn that into a jewelry rack, as well as the carved head version.

And can I just HELMETS OH MAN. REAL helmets, helmets that don't look like cliche Viking hats with horns and stuff. Helmets that look like helmets! SO AWESOME. And that crown on the far right? That's a perfect crown. (Is that thing second from the right the circlet from the Aristocrat hair? I know Marja made an accessory version I need to recolor.)
